Author: Tonia Magda Last Monday kicked off this year’s HALLOWEEK! An entire week full of Halloween themed, not that scary (but definitely creative!) events. Prizes for Bingo included lots of chocolate and two large drinks, and there were three lucky winners. I played, thought I won, yelled Bingo, did not actually have Bingo... and so proceeded to take the walk of shame back down to my table. It’s all good though because Bingo happens biweekly and that means biweekly chances to win. Oh yes.
Tuesday was the glorious Bring Your Own Mug day and let me tell you, IT WAS AMAZING. Whatever cocoa powder they used must’ve come straight from Jesus because it was the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had. Not only that, but the candy skewers they were selling for only $1 went to the Red Cross to help provide relief to the families affected by Hurricane Matthew. Wednesday was a FUN caf event. Groups went up and competed in a pumpkin carving contest. Every group got about 10 minutes to carve a pumpkin and win from categories such as most spirited, scariest, and most original. It was all fun and games until we almost cut each other’s fingers off with the carving knife... and it was all fun and games after that too (laugh it off guys, laugh it off). The judges then proceeded to tell us that “we were all winners”. That was a preposterous disappointment but we got candy so it was okay! Thursday and Friday were the days of the much anticipated Haunted House. This year’s theme was ‘Creepy Carnival.’ Seems fitting considering how many clowns have been walking around lately. People that dared to walk through were in for a scary surprise. Everybody had some point during the Haunted House that they found scary, whether it was the clowns, the feet grabbing as they made their way through the tunnel, or the screamers that literally made someone fall on their knees! Mission accomplished everybody. Finally, the Monday of Halloween was the last day of our Halloweek. We celebrated by hosting a costume contest! There were so many amazing, creative, and hilarious costumes out there. The individual prize went to Captain Canada (who I’m sure wears the same outfit on Canada day, you go dude you show off that national pride!) The pair prize went to none other than the giant crocs! Yes. They were dressed as giant walking crocs. And to top it all off… they were wearing crocs too. It was amazing. Finally, the group prize to the Scooby Doo gang! They nailed every character and surprisingly looked like the cast too, way to go! All in all, we’re sad to wave goodbye to Halloweek but we can’t wait to see what next year’s Halloween brings! Thanks to everyone who participated and we hope you all had a great time. Get ready for Christmas. |
